Will Ferrell and Adam McKay have sold their pitch “Step Brothers” to Columbia Pictures. The buddy comedy is about adult sons whose elderly parents fall in love and marry, creating sibling conflicts. McKay will direct, while Ferrell and John C. Reilly will star. Judd Apatow and Jimmy Miller are producing. 8/4
Universal Pictures has acquired the film rights to “Hellboy 2.” The supernatural action franchise went into turnaround when Revolution Studios went under. The sequel’s script has been written by Guillermon del Toro, who will return to direct. Ron Perlman and Selma Blair are signed on to star as well. Lawrence Gordon, Mike Richardson, Lloyd Levin and Joe Roth are producing, while Chris Kenney is executive producing. 8/4
Agnieszka Vosloo has agreed to write and direct “After.Life” for Constellation Entertainment. The supernatural thriller is about a young woman in limbo whose destiny rests in the hands of a funeral director. The Collective is also providing financing. 8/4
